July asks what’s burning inside you, and whether you’re tending that fire or letting it gutter out under a pile of ‘shoulds’ and someone else’s priorities.
This month is about passion projects — the creative work that genuinely lights you up, not the work you think you ought to be doing. We all have one. The zine idea that’s been circling for months. The half-finished painting series. The craft you keep saying you’ll ‘properly start’ once things calm down. Things never calm down. July is the month we stop waiting for calm and start the fire anyway.
We’re working with actual fire this month — candles, matches, ash, smoke — as both art material and magical tool. There’s something deeply honest about fire as a medium. It doesn’t let you be precious or overly controlled. It does what it does, and you work with it, not against it. Rather like passion projects themselves, now I think of it.
