How (and Why) I Made the Mundane Magic Oracle DECK ❤️

There's a particular kind of quiet that descends when you move house.
Not a peaceful quiet. More of a disoriented one — like all your familiar rhythms have been packed into boxes along with everything else, and you're not entirely sure which box they ended up in.
That's where I found myself earlier this year. Settled enough in the new house to function, but not quite settled enough to feel like myself. My practice had gone quiet. Not gone — just misplaced. And I needed a gentle way back in that didn't require me to have it all together first.
So I started writing.
It Started With Lines
Not a plan, not a project. Just little lines. Prompts to myself to slow down and notice the magic in the ordinary moments I was moving through every day.
The kettle, the cupboard, the worn step — these are your altars.
The slow morning is a ritual. Let it be one.
This ordinary day is exactly where the magic is.
They came easily, which surprised me. Thirty-six of them eventually, grouped loosely around six themes: the body, the home, the outer world, making and creating, time and transition, and the self as practitioner.
I wasn't thinking about a product. I was thinking about how to remember that magic doesn't require a grand setup or a perfect practice. It just requires noticing.
Then I Started Painting
Once I had the quotes, I wanted to make something with them. Something physical and tangible — because that's how I work best.
I painted abstract watercolours in response to each quote. Six to a sheet of watercolour paper, intuitively, letting the words guide the brush without overthinking it. No plan, just paint and feeling.
It turned out to be one of the most effective creative practices I've done in a long time. Simple, but genuinely powerful. The act of responding to each line with colour and mark-making deepened my relationship with the words in a way that just reading them back couldn't. It was its own kind of magic.
Thirty-six paintings later, I had something I wanted to share.
What the Mundane Magic Oracle Actually Is
The Mundane Magic Oracle is a 36-card DIY printable deck — square cards with original watercolour artwork and a single quote on each one. It comes with a full guidebook that goes deeper into each card with a prompt for reflection, a little about the six themes, and a few different ways to use the deck.
It's made in my usual DIY format — print at home, glue to cardstock, cut out, and press the edges with a gold or silver ink pad for a beautiful metallic finish. Sturdy and handmade and completely yours.
I made it to help witches notice the everyday magic all around them. Not to teach anyone anything, not to prescribe a practice. Just to offer a gentle nudge to slow down for two minutes and look more closely at the ordinary fabric of an ordinary day.

There's a Podcast Episode Too
I've been recording the Mundane Magic podcast — short, unscheduled episodes grabbed whenever the mood takes me — and I recorded an episode about making this deck that I think you might enjoy. It covers the move, the quiet, the writing, the painting, and why I think intuitive creative practice is one of the most underrated forms of magic there is.
You can find the Mundane Magic podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and right here on the website. Grab a brew. It's about ten minutes.

It's in the Shop Now
The Mundane Magic Oracle is available in the shop for £5. If you're already a member, it's waiting for you in the membership area — no need to purchase separately.
I hope one of the cards finds you at exactly the right moment.
And if you make your deck, I'd genuinely love to see it. Share it in the community or tag me — there's something particularly lovely about seeing these little handmade objects out in the world, doing their quiet work.
With love, Sara Jane
