April Art Magic reflections....

So I sat down today to write a newsletter but I was compelled to turn it into a blog post instead. I trust that if I feel drawn a certain way then that is where I should go.

All the wonderful things I have created during April.

April has been a little trying.

Maybe that is an understatement but I try to not catastrophise these days to keep my mental wellbeing in good order. I started April full of beans (maybe that Mars and Aries energy?) but it quickly left me, leaving me thinking about the song that Gir from Invader Zim sings....

You know when you are trying your best and things just don't work out like you want them too?

The world has a doomy doom doom air to it at the moment and even though I don't watch any news I can still feel it. BUT.... I decided that I would NOT succumb to my old habits of wearing a grey cloud heavy hat (which is very uncomfortable and quite ugly) and that I would just keep on doing what I do and wait for the wheel to turn as it always does. One benefit of being older is the knowledge that things always change and sometimes we just have to patiently sit it out.

So I decided at the beginning of the month that I would challenge myself to make a simple zine EVERY DAY...at this point I was feeling like I could fart rainbows and build castles. WHAT an IDIOT!

One day I was journalling about the stupidity of giving myself this challenge during a very tough month and wether to just drop it and give in. Then I realised that maybe this was just what I needed.

Continuity of creativity.

The action of making something every day has actually kept me going.

The magic of art - Art Magic.

So I sit here, with two days left to go and reflect on my month. I created a little collage of the things I have shared during April and was taken aback by how much I have still created even though I was in 'doom' mode. My instinct to write a blog post has ended up showing me how much I have actually achieved and made me feel quite proud of my commitment to myself.

Part of this commitment to myself has been building my website, helping me slowly become self sufficient.

I have always loved the idea of self sufficiency (picture me in a wooden shed with solar panels and a log burner, hens and veg plot fully stocked with home made bread in the wood fired oven) and only relying on my own efforts rather than being beholden to some 'higher' power but I also understand that we can't all detach and actually be 100% self sufficient ( I rely on website provider, apple, google drive, gmail, Youtube, royal mail, etc etc etc)

BUT we can chose how we put ourselves out there, how we live our magically mundane lives in our own unique way, without pretending we are perfect, beautiful, and spend every day laughing and smiling, but in a real way, warts and all.

When I sit at my desk to create I am committing to myself to build the life I WANT to live rather than the one I think I SHOULD live according to the powers that be. That takes strength and trust in myself.

By creating art (or anything else with our hands) using the energies that are all around us, be it seasonal, lunar, cyclical, astrological, natural, vibrational or emotional, we are learning about ourselves and the world around us, not just making pretty pages. It is important work and can help us so much in many many ways.

Don't forget to feed your dream...

My new Magical Art Witch paid membership is something I have wanted to do for a while but I didn't know how to actually do it and I was scared to get it wrong. These fears have stopped me in the past but I have been determined to dig in and learn each thing, bit by bit. It will never be perfect because nothing ever is and the world would be sterile if it was, with no space for improvement, so I am launching it this week. I think it's fabulous, because if I didn't, what would be the point in me doing it! It is identical in content to Patreon but with some added extras and hopefully easy to navigate to find what sparks your creativity. If you don't want to leave Patreon beacuse you like that format then please don't worry, nothing will change over there. I just want to evolve my world on the web and have control over my own work rather than relying on a particular platform. Patreon and Sarajaneartmagic.com will run side by side for the foreseeable future.

The benefits of joining on my website are not paying taxes and additional app fees (unless I start earning huge amounts of money...I'll cross that bridge when it comes but I'm a long way off at present!) and also I keep more of your payment due to lower fees I have to pay.

I am still keeping my membership extremely good value for money because I want to be able to help others and share what I have learned regardless of an individual's financial situation. You can try a FREE 7 day trial to see if you like what I do before you commit.

Thanks for the reminder that the Wheel always turns... so true. So easy to forget. And thanks as always for the inspiration to create something, for yourself, every day that you can. I do not know what I'd do otherwise! Xx
